Why a treatment needs to be taken over
The reasons we see at the clinic are practical rather than dramatic. The trips become too many or too expensive. Check-ups get postponed and the treatment stands still. Someone has moved to Sweden. Sometimes the original clinic has stopped replying, or the patient simply wants a specialist to review the plan.
What they have in common is that time matters. Braces or a set of aligners left untouched for months do not move any teeth, and the retention phase afterwards does not get easier for having waited.
What to bring
Bring whatever you have, even if it is incomplete. The more documentation, the less has to be redone. If you have nothing with you, we start with a new examination.
- 01The treatment planThe plan or agreement you were given, in English if the original is in another language. It shows what was intended from the start.
- 02X-rays and photosImages from before treatment, and later ones if they exist. They make it possible to see how the teeth have actually moved.
- 03Whatever you were givenAligners you have used or still have unopened, loose parts from fixed braces, or a retainer.
- 04Which method was usedFixed metal or ceramic braces, lingual braces behind the teeth, or removable aligners. Add the brand if you know it.
Three possible outcomes
At the consultation, a registered specialist orthodontist examines your bite and reviews your documentation. The consultation costs SEK 1,295 and is deducted in full if you continue with us.
- 01We continue the planRequires the plan to hold up and the teeth to have moved as intended. The remaining treatment is then shorter and less expensive than a new one.
- 02We create a new planMost common when documentation is missing or the bite has moved in an unintended direction. The price is set by method, as for any treatment.
- 03We treat the problem firstIf something has gone wrong along the way, loose brackets or gums that need to heal, that is handled before the orthodontics continue.
Fixed price or pay per visit
We can never know what you paid elsewhere, and we do not deduct it. Our price is based on what remains and is fixed from the consultation. You get both options calculated before you decide.
- 01Fixed priceOne price for all remaining treatment. The amount does not change, regardless of how many visits are needed. Suits cases where it is clear what remains.
- 02Pay per visitYou pay for the treatment actually carried out, visit by visit. Suits cases where the end point is hard to predict, for example when documentation is missing.
- 03Prices start atAligners from SEK 25,980, traditional metal braces from SEK 34,800, ceramic braces from SEK 37,800, lingual from SEK 54,800. If only part remains, the cost is lower.
- 04What is includedThe whole treatment, all check-ups, a retainer and an Essix retainer afterwards. Instalments are available, interest free with us for up to twelve months.
Responsibility and guarantees
The clinic that carried out a treatment is responsible for it. When we take over, we are responsible for what we do ourselves, from the day we start. That does not mean earlier work is ignored, but no one can guarantee a treatment someone else planned and performed. That is also why the assessment comes first: we need to know what we are taking on before we take responsibility for it.
Taking over an ongoing treatment is harder than starting a new one. Someone else made the decisions, the documentation is often incomplete, and the bite sits in the middle of a movement. Can you continue my Invisalign treatment started abroad?
Often yes, if the aligner series and the plan still exist and the teeth have followed it. If documentation is missing, we do a new scan and a new series, which also works.
I have braces fitted at a clinic in Turkey, can you take over?
Yes. Bring the treatment plan and X-rays if you have them, otherwise we carry out our own examination. The method does not decide whether we can help you, but it affects what remains.
Do I have to start over from the beginning?
Not necessarily. If the treatment followed the plan, we continue from there. If the bite has moved incorrectly, or documentation is missing, a new plan is made from your current situation.
Does it cost more to take over an ongoing treatment?
No. The price is based on what remains. If part of the treatment is already done, the cost is lower than a full treatment. You choose a fixed price or pay per visit.
What happens if something went wrong in the previous treatment?
It is assessed first, before any new treatment starts. Sometimes gums or individual teeth need attention before the orthodontics can continue.
How long does it take?
It depends on where the treatment stands. If the teeth moved as planned, a few months may remain. If it has been at a standstill, it can take as long as a new treatment. You get an estimate at the consultation.
Can I get a price before coming in?
No, and that is deliberate. A price for an ongoing treatment without having seen the bite would be guesswork. You get a fixed price at the consultation, deducted if you go ahead.
